Whatever list you look at, Public Relations remains a constant placer in the Most Stressful Jobs in the World category. I stay because I thrive on stress - when my fingertips tingle and my heart beats loudly during stressful instances, that's when I feel most alive.
However, I still need to de-stress to keep myself sane and to not suffer untimely death due to stress-induced heart attack. Heh. I read, I go to the movies, I watch light TV shoes, I journal, I ask my mom or my boyfriend (whoever's available) for back rubs, and on extreme cases I go to a spa and get a massage.
Panasonic recently gifted me with a Facial Ionic Steamer, and it's been a great addition to my home spa so far. ♥
The Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer promises to not only cleanse your pores for dirt, it also leaves your skin feeling hydrated thanks to the nanoe™ particles it releases, penetrating the skin to make it feel refreshed and renewed.
It might seem like a complex foreign-looking contraption, but it's actually no-fuss and fool-proof. The box contains the Facial Ionic Steamer, plug, and a manual. Everything's packed securely inside the box so you don't have to worry about being extra delicate when handling it. So long as you don't drop it, of course.
It's very easy to use, too! All you have to do is set on your table-top, plug it in, fill the container with water (half-full if you want three minutes' worth of steam, full if you want the whole six minutes), and switch it on!
Three minutes is recommended for when you're about to remove your makeup since it makes even the most waterproof of makeup easier to wash off. It also cleanses the skin and removes dirt and other impurities. The six minutes setting is recommended for the nano-sized steam particles to penetrate the skin and moisturize. It also opens up the pores to easily absorb your skin care products. Perfect for your night-time ritual!
The simple white and hot pink device is a nice addition to any boudoir or vanity.
I chose the full six minutes setting when I first tried the Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer but now I alternate between three and six.
There's no need to put your face directly over the steamer. It can be a few inches away, so long as you're getting enough steam.
Looking at this picture alone already relaxes me. ♥
My skin immediately felt softer and more moisturized after six minutes of steaming.
It's just a struggle sometimes because of the hot and humid weather we've been having lately and the steam coming from this is also hot. I would recommend that you use it when you're in an air-conditioned room.
It is important to note that you can only use distilled water for this to make sure minerals in the water don't clog it up. Don't use fragrant oils as well because this steamer is not built for those. If you must, tape a cotton pad soaked in fragrant oils over the spout so you can still enjoy it with the steam.
I have yet to see dramatic results but that is expected since I only get to use the Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer twice a week. I love the benefits though so I should really squeeze it in. Especially since you can do it even when watching TV! It can also be seamlessly added to any beauty ritual. Aside from using the steamer at night after cleansing your face to get rid of the dirt in your pores, you can also revamp your morning beauty ritual. During the morning, the Facial Iconic Steamer can be used after washing your face and before applying makeup so that makeup application becomes easier and the makeup can last on your face for a longer period of time!
With Panasonic Beauty releasing more beauty tools for us, it's amazing to know the breadth of our choices. Good times.
I can't wait to bring my Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer when I go on a staycation with my girl friends. Hooray for DIY spa days!

The first time I was able to use Real Techniques brushes was when my blogger friend Kim gifted with a Travel Essentials set that contained a foundation brush, a multitask brush, and a domed shadow brush. I fell in love with the brushes instantly and bring the set with me instead of lugging my entire brush set whenever I travel.
One of the most important things I learned in makeup school is that it doesn't matter how high-end or expensive your makeup products are if you don't know how to apply them properly nor have the right tools to apply them with. My train case is filled with a wide variety of products that range from drugstore to high-end, but I get the most out of them because I know which tools to use for each. Makeup brushes can get expensive, yes, but it is essential that you invest on those that do the job AND are durable to last several years of use and washing. Real Techniques brushes are affordable enough and are excellent whether you're just starting to build your collection or you're already a pro and you're looking to purchase more brushes just because.
During a recent Sephora shopping session, I splurged on a few Real Techniques brushes.
Oops.
These arrived in less than a week. I actually wasn't aware that the Pixiwoo sisters have released this many types of brushes already! It was so exciting reading each one's descriptions and deciding which ones to put in my cart. In the end, these won and now I'm going to share the descriptions of each one.
Synthetic taklon bristles are 100% cruelty-free. My other makeup brush sets contained lip brushes but it was the first time I got a retractable kind. Very efficient when you're rushing and don't have time to make sure all brush hairs are in place before putting the cap back on. I still prefer applying my lipstick to my lips directly from the tube but even I admit how precise lipstick application looks when done using a lip brush. I also don't have to worry about getting unwanted swatches in my bag because the cap is secure enough.
Contouring is one of my favorite makeup techniques because I look so polished whenever I have even the tiniest hint of a contour. This retractable bronzer brush deposits just the right amount of bronzer for this purpose. I also use it to brush finishing powder all over my face.
Oh my goodness, this is the most luxe brush I have. It's so soft and fluffy! ♥ Perfect for loose or pressed powder. I have one problem, though. Makeup application takes longer when I use this because I can't stop running it all over my face. Heh.
The photo shown in the website is actually of black and white brushes so I was quite surprised by these, but then again, awww my Travel Essentials set has baby sisters now. I actually haven't been able to try them yet but these are said to be great for achieving feather soft finish. The limited edition duo-fiber brushes are designed to pick up and release lighter amounts of makeup for buildable, mistake-proof application. Perfect for no makeup-makeup look!
I'm so excited for all these new brushes and now I'm inspired to wear makeup more often. I will play with these more and post a more comprehensive review after they've been through several uses and washes!
Do you have a favorite makeup brush? I had a retractable kabuki brush before but I lost it when I got mugged and the perpetrators took my bag. :( Crossing my fingers that this Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush gets restocked very soon!

Are you ready for the MOST LOADED and BOLDEST lipstick collection to come from a drugstore brand yet? I SURE AM! Ohmygolly goodness, color me excited because I will be sharing swatches of the new Maybelline Loaded Bolds in this post!
I've never been one to shy away from bold lip colors, but I never thought I'd see the day I'd try on unconventional lipsticks. Well, spoiler alert! I TRIED BLACK LIPSTICK ON AND I LIKED IT. ♥
Maybelline recognizes that it takes guts to flaunt some of the boldest beauty looks that come out of the runway but with the launch of their latest lipstick collection, I'm positive every girl will surely go for the boldest shade. Think black and blue, the Loaded Bolds by Color Sensational truly boasts bold and edgy shades that we only see in the catwalk. Read more to see my swatches and quick thoughts on each of the 12(!!!) shades that will be released in our shores!
Audacious Blue is an electrifying blue that can never look boring even if it tried! I can't wait for the day we can wear colors like this on a regular basis because can imagine myself pairing it with a denim on denim outfit. HAH.
Berry Bossy is a beautiful berry red that's flattering for all skin tones. This is one of my favorite shades in this collection. I find myself reaching out for it when I want to look effortlessly pretty.
Chocoholic is the Loaded Bolds' answer to the '90s throwback that's still the rage these days. It's a gorgeous brown that aims to get noticed.
Dynamite Red is a fiery red. It's not really my favorite red in this collection but it reminded me of Taylor Swift for some reason.
Fearless Purple is another favorite. It's a nice alternative to my Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Vibrant Violet that melted.
Fierce Fuchsia actually looks fiercer and brighter in person. It's a loud and proud pink and every girl should have it in her lipstick stash.
Midnight Date is a nice vampy and sophisticated red. I've been using it on my meetings for the last two days.
Pitch Black is a great black lipstick that applies well and doesn't look streaky. I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND I'M TYPING IN ALL CAPS TO DRIVE MY POINT ACROSS MORE CLEARLY. I'm planning to wear it out more often.
Raspberry Rendezvous is a fabulous berry pink that's more wearable than Fierce Fuchsia if you don't like neon pinks that much.
Smoking Red is my favorite red in this collection. Red lipsticks instantly make me feel sexy but this red just makes me feel more alluring. I love love love this red.
Sunny Coral is a red orange that's perfect for summer. I think it'll be my shade for this coming extra-long weekend.
Oh Wickedly White, I tried so hard to love you but I can't get over how difficult it was to make sure the color applies evenly. A lip liner would've helped but I didn't have one during my swatch party. Either way, this would be a great base lipstick for those who have pigmented lips. I also like that we can turn to Maybelline for options when we need lipsticks that are out of our ordinary pinks, reds, and nudes.
I wish I could've attended the launch event that happened a day before my birthday, but I was too busy tying loose ends in the office before I left for my two week-vacation. The launch showcased a fashion show with special guests Maureen Wroblewitz and Jennica Sanchez from Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5. where both contenders also shared their experience being in the top model reality show with the audience. Looking forward to attending the next event with my fellow Maybelline Squad members!
The Loaded Bolds collection will be available at Maybelline counters starting May 2017 for only P299. Seriously, you guys, that's way too cheap for the quality and formulation of these lipsticks! I'm actually willing to pay more for these! Thank you for making prettifying ourselves easier on our pockets, Maybelline!
Break the mold and be bold with your lipstick/ makeup choices. To know more about Maybelline’s promos and for updates, visit and get inspired by Maybelline Philippines on Facebook and Instagram.

Here's a photo of the products I used on my face for this post. Everything from Maybelline! I'm so excited to share my reviews on all the other products with you guys. ♥ |
Two years ago today, I launched my short story Once Upon a Sticky Note, distributed as part of the Sweet Complications anthology thanks to Buqo and Mina's help.
Two years ago today, I also met this guy.
We stayed up until 2AM the next day talking about Batman, books, TV shows, and toys.
My life hasn't been the same since.

Maybelline keeps on releasing awesome collections after another, I can barely keep up! No complaints, though, especially after they released my favorite lipstick formula yet. Hello, friends. I'm here to talk about the Powder Mattes by Color Sensational from Maybelline New York.
Matte lipsticks are huge right now and I'm one of those who have been taken in by this trend completely, but even I admit how some of my favorite mattes feel dry and heavy on my lips. Worse, they leave my lips looking really parched. Eep, not a good look. When I first heard of the Maybelline Powder Mattes during the launch of #MaybellineSquadPH, I couldn't wait to try it out. And now I have five of the top favorite shades on my hands!
Here's a closer look on all five colors and my quick thoughts on each.
Make Me Blush is a muted peachy coral shade. It's a very pretty color but I find it doesn't suit my skin tone that well. This would look better on those with lighter complexion. Sucks for me because I really liked it but oh, well.
Mauve It Up is a dusty mauve that looked flattering on me. It's pretty yet doesn't scream for attention. This would be a nice lipstick for meeting the boyfriend's parents for the first time. ;)
Noir Red did not register well on my Huawei P9's front camera; it's actually darker in person. From the name itself it reminds me of old Hollywood - glamorous, mysterious, and seductive.
Plum Perfection looked more red than plum to me. It was actually quite difficult to distinguish from Noir Red on both the lip and arm swatches, but Plum Perfection is a tad darker.
Peachy nude Touch of Nude is the runaway winner - it's my favorite among the five and quite honestly one of my top favorite lipsticks of all time! I even used it on my FaceBookIt entry for Mina Esguerra's Better at Weddings than You. It's said to be the younger sister of cult favorite Touch of Spice.
Infused with twice the saturated powder pigments and honey nectar, the Powder Mattes lipstick collection gives your lips an ultra-powdery matte finish that feels silky smooth and perfect for any everyday look.
I sported one for each work day for three weeks and was able to confirm that they last for more than three hours yet stay lightweight and non-drying! The best part about this lipstick: they feel like NOTHING! You literally apply them and forget about them! "Beautiful things don't ask for attention," indeed.
The Maybelline Powder Matte collection come in 15 exciting nude, red, and pink shades to choose from. At just P299 a pop (with Maybelline even conducting sales and promos left and right) these are very affordable and give great value for money!
I recommend that you pick a bullet or two (or three, or more) on your next shopping trip (online or at the malls) and that you buy Touch of Nude first. Seriously, it's the best.
Thanks for reading this review! Catch you again next time!

Chandeliers, cheesecake, and charm bracelets make me happy, says my blog's sidebar. It's not just an alliteration thrown in mindlessly; it's a fact. Today, I made myself extra happy by getting my very first PANDORA jewelry - a PANDORA Charm Bracelet in Sterling Silver.
I only went to SM Aura with my officemate/ friend Hannah to eat lunch and possibly get milk tea, but I walked back to the office with a full tummy, a Stromboli to-go, and a paper bag from PANDORA.
Blame Hannah for being an enabler.
It's one of those rare expensive buys where I didn't feel instant guilt and remorse after, though. Probably because I've been wanting to start building a legit charm bracelet made of my milestones and it's only today that the stars aligned for me to do so.
Still, I've only just come from two trips out of the country and I should be replenishing my savings, so what was I thinking walking into a jewelry store, psyching myself up that I was simply there to "just look around"?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
NO REGRETS. What, it's my birthday gift to myself, okay??
The truth is I'm a big sentimental cheese-ball. I'm a magpie pack-rat and I keep a lot of stuff for its sentimental value, not acknowledging the fact that I can barely sleep in my room anymore because of all the stuff lying around.
I actually wanted to get a charm bracelet at the Universal Studios in Singapore. There was a really pretty Swarovski bracelet I wanted to get and there was even a promo wherein you could get a tennis bracelet for free for an initial purchase of just 50SGD! I stopped myself though because I've already purchased a lot of books and I still needed to mind my budget for the next coming days. I regretted not getting it, but I'm much happier with my PANDORA now!
Credit should also be given to the lovely PANDORA Sales Assistants at Elemento in SM Aura earlier today. Hannah and I were wearing really casual clothes (the type that made us look out of place in a jewelry store, heh) yet not once did they patronize us but instead assisted us and patiently answered all our questions.
I intend to get my first charm before the month ends. A letter K charm, maybe? My birthstone? A charm for my endless fascination with the night sky? Or maybe this Disney charm named Jasmine's Signature Colour, a sterling silver, sea green fluorescent Murano glass?
It's limited edition (it's not even on the website anymore) and I'm worried they'll run out of stocks before I could get one. Yikes.
Aside from the bracelet housed in a beautiful box, I'm now the proud owner of its polishing cloth, a lifetime service of free cleaning, and this thick catalog:
Can I get one of everything, please?
Now I'm slowly building my wish list and I'm SO EXCITED to earn more money and dress up my bracelet with charms that are relevant to me, my life, and all the big events that have happened and will happen to me.
I can't wait! ♥
