Currently Vol. 23

08 June 2015

I am not the most hardworking girl in the world. I get lazy spells and there are times I would rather sleep in and not go to the office if only I had the choice, BUT if there is anything I can claim I am, it's that I work smart. No time for false modesty here, folks. I am efficient, I think things through, and I foresee possible problems and/ or needs and think of ways to address them.

I did not foresee this one coming.

It feels doubly awesome because my last promotion happened almost a year ago! As with last year, my bosses Celine and Jenny said a lot of really nice things about me and the quality of work I put in that it was hard to stop myself from tearing up. They have such great faith in me and in what I can do that it's hard not to believe it, too. It feels so good when you are appreciated and valued. I didn't need the extra validation because this was the path I chose and I am willing to see it through, but it certainly felt grand to realize time and time again that I made the right [but tough] decision back in 2012!

More than the inner somersaults my heart made after everything Jenny, Celine, and our HR Consultant Tricia said, these congratulatory messages also made me want to run across Ayala and spontaneously burst out in song:

I was grinning so wide my facial muscles hurt! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, you'll never know how much this means to me!

I needed to return my ID because it doesn't have my complete name, therefore I can't use it as a valid form of identification. I guess now they'll be needing to change two fields in it already. *wink*

Now on to this week's Currently!

CURRENTLY VOL. 23

READING
I just finished reading Neil Gaiman's The Sleeper and the Spindle and am now three chapters deep into Wendy Wunder's The Museum of Intangible Things. I can't say I'm liking it enough to continue reading, but I guess I'll give another couple of chapters a chance.

WRITING
... a separate entry about my Spark NA experience and a rather lengthy review of 11 (11!!!) lipsticks.

SMELLING
Freedom. Almost. It's going to be a long weekend! Do you have special plans? I'm seeing Jurassic World in 3D on Saturday!

THINKING
... of this week's series of events.

FEELING
Exhausted. Mondays never used to drain me, but I guess I'm getting old.

LOVING
... how things are at the moment, but I can't help wishing for something more, you know?

WANTING
... more time.

NEEDING
... more time.

WISHING
... I could be more careful with my heart.

What are the things you're looking forward to this week? Let me share your excitement. ♡

  1. Yezz naman the wishing. Kidding. Congratulations!!! Btw how was The Sleeper and the Spindle? I so wanted to read when I thought Snow and Aurora were gonna get it on. I thought it was gay themed. Such a let down. That's why hindi ko na sha mashado gusto. But the art is gorgeous though.

  2. "It feels so good when you are appreciated and valued" - This made it!

I still remember, I read your post about leaving our previous employer. It's one of the biggest decisions you made. Months after, you were sharing about your enthusiasm to your new work. You feel excited to go to work everyday. This is it! Galing!!! Congratulations and I'm sure, there's more to to come for you.

  5. Thanks, CJ! I really liked The Sleeper and the Spindle! Well, not as much as I liked his other books but, yeah. Here's my Goodreads review, hehe:

"Another enchanting story by the master storyteller Neil Gaiman. I like retelling of classics; I am awed by how someone is able to take something, put his/ her own touch to it, and make it into something entirely different. Gaiman is exceptionally gifted, and I am thankful to have been born in this lifetime where I am able to witness this gift. Did you see that twist coming? Because I didn't. I actually liked this one better than his Snow, Glass, Apples, which is another retelling of Snow White. This is a quick read and I was hooked in instantly. The illustrations by Chris Riddell are also worth mentioning as they are laced with magic. I wish I can draw that well."

  11. Congrats again, Krissy. <3

I want to see Jurassic World. Those movies used to scare the bejeebus out of me when I was a little kid. My parents would leave the Betamax (I'm so old!) on with that movie on date night, and I'd be left hiding behind the sofa. Lol.
