Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the Harry Potter universe. For those who are not fans of the book nor the movie series (but whyyy?), here is an excerpt and a gif clip to explain its 'powers'.
It has a different aroma for everyone who smells it, reminding each person of the things that they find most attractive, even if the person themselves doesn't acknowledge or is unaware of their fondness for the object of their affection e.g. Hermione Granger smells fresh cut grass, new parchment, spearmint toothpaste, and Ron Weasley. Harry Potter smelled treacle tart, the woody scent of broomstick handle, and "something flowery that he thought he might have smelled at the Burrow" (which he later realised was the smell of Ginny Weasley's perfume). Ron Weasley smelled his mother's cooking, bacon, and the perfume he gave Hermione in their fifth year at Hogwarts for Christmas. (source)
Now I know it's fiction and all, but after reading that portion of the book for the first time, I wondered what
Amortentia would smell like to
me. After giving it some thought, I finally decided that to me,
this potion would most likely smell like the pages of a new book, a moviehouse, and rain.
When I think about it, I am at my happiest whenever I read, watch a good movie, or write. Big bonus points if I do this when it's raining and I am in my room, with the gentle pitter-patter providing a nice ambient sound to me and my thoughts.

Nothing beats the smell of the pages of a new book, especially if you waited for that book for so long |
|
... in the same way that aside from being with my family and friends (and a significant other, if applicable), nothing gives me greater joy than reading a particularly good book that is cleverly written and perfectly executed. |
|
Watching great movies affects me the same way, |
|
as well as writing. Either touching pen to paper, or fingers to keys. |
|
Preferably, while I am in my room where a candle is lit and the rain gently knocks on my windows. |
When I first sniffed
Rain by CLEAN,
Amortentia immediately came to mind. THIS. IS. IT.
|
The pure scent of rainfall has been captured |
With intertwining hints of bright daffodil, dewy melon, water lilies, daisies and a sheer musk, this sparkling pure scent captures the delicate scent of rain, when droplets cling to flower petals and the whole world feels pure and bright.
I know it sounds too dramatic, but it's a special moment when you find a fragrance that speaks to your soul. It doesn't matter how stressful a day can get; one whiff of this and I am reminded of my simplest pleasures once more.
Aside from Rain, CLEAN also added
Skin -
a fragrance that captures the inviting scent of clean skin at its best - to its existing line of fresh and pure scents inspired by a bar of soap, no less.
The fragrance opens with light notes of lotus blossom and fresh air accord and evolves to reveal a heart of aquatic florals layered on top of a sheer white musk and hints of amber wood. The result is a subtle and unique fragrance that evokes the familiar and loved scent of fresh, warm, bare skin.
High-performance yet low-key, 'dressy' enough for days I have to be mature and business-like yet still youthful and easy-to-wear, I am glad I found CLEAN. I've always had a sunny and happy disposition but even the most cheery mood cannot help when a series of unfortunate events ensue. Every little helps, so now, even on the most difficult days, all I need is a spray of
Rain and I am transported to my happy place once again.
Both CLEAN Rain Eau de Parfum and CLEAN Skin Eau de Parfum are now available in Rustan’s, SM and all other leading Department Stores in 60mL and 30mL sizes for P2,950.00 and P1,650.00, respectively.
