About three weeks ago I had an inconsolable hankering for new lip colors. This is the result.
Endless scrolling through different beauty blogs both from here and abroad are to be blamed. These Mega Last Lip Colors are available in Wet 'N Wild kiosks in department stores for P299 each but I got these from eBay for only P150 to P195 per tube. Ah, the joys of online shopping.
This is my attempt to do a massive haul and review post since they all have the same formulations and doing individual review posts might just sound redundant. Brace yourselves, there'll be a lot of photos here.
Lips take center stage! This 4-hour, long wearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, creme finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.
Wet 'N Wild Mega Last Lip Colors From left to right: Cherry Picking, Pinkerbell, Ravin' Raisin, Smokin' Hot Pink, Sugar Plum Fairy, Wine Room |
I was expecting them to be drying on the lips so it was a pleasant surprise to find out they're not! Still, a slick of lip balm never did anyone bad. I like using my favorite lip balm a few moments before swiping any of these on. Also, one word: pigmentation. It's amazing how I didn't have to tug my lips and swipe too many times because color pay-off is great. Other more expensive lipsticks are less pigmented than these are!
I am not a big fan of the packaging, but at least the clear cap makes it easy for me to see what lipstick shade it is without the need to rummage through everything. It is quite hard to snap it open though, and you have to be verrry careful in taking the cap off and putting it back. If you aren't, the lipstick tube will touch the inside of the cap and leave untidy looking lipstick marks - a lesson I had to learn the hard way because I am very particular with taking care of my lipsticks.

And here they are, in alphabetical order.
Cherry Picking
Cherry Picking is a gorgeous berry shade that flatters my skintone perfectly. I first saw it worn by Jessa in an event. I find that I have to wear it when I don't have my glasses on though because it can be a little too overpowering. Impossible not to notice in a crowd, it's a shade that was made to stand out.
Pinkerbell
Pinkerbell is a pretty bubblegum pink that is almost as sweet as its name. Most reviews say it is a dupe for MAC Viva Glam Nicki but I can't really say that because I don't have the latter. I could say though that this specific shade of pink does not make me look sickly or pale like MAC Pink Nouveau does. Perfect for first dates or lunch-outs with your girl friends, this shade can make even the most mundane errand run look a little bit dressier. This is my second favorite of the bunch.
Ravin' Raisin
I've written several times about my search for the perfect purple lipstick. Well, this Ravin' Raisin, my friends, is The One. I was expecting it to be more maroon so seeing the swatch was a pleasant surprise. It's not really the same shade of purple as the MUFE lipstick used on me in one of our press launches, but for the price and quality of this lipstick, I am willing to compromise. Besides, I have considered it and I think this richer, more plummy shade is more flattering for me than the other one which can be classified as more of a violet than purple.
Smokin' Hot Pink
I have a thousand pink lipsticks (of course I am only exaggerating) but I don't have anything quite like this in my collection. Tamer than Pinkerbell but a little bit "wilder" than Wine Room, Smokin' Hot Pink is the color you wear on a movie-and-coffee sorta date.
Sugar Plum Fairy
I was expecting this to be more purple than Ravin' Raisin turned out to be. Sugar Plum Fairy is a very pretty lipstick name and I thought this was going to be my favorite from this batch, but it appeared more of a blue-based pink on my lips. This is such a pretty color but I think it looks too similar with MAC Girl About Town (which is my favorite MAC lipstick). Pair it with some dark eyeliner and voila, perfect look for night-outs.
Wine Room
This almost didn't make the cut when I was already trying to trim down the contents of my eBay cart, but the swatches I saw online were too pretty to resist so I thought, "Bah, what difference will an additional P150 make?" Best. Decision. Ever as Wine Room is my favorite in this bunch! I wasn't expecting to like it that much, but when I used it for the first time... Wow. #Instapretty ha ha. It's the perfect shade of mauve that's very flattering and make you feel like you've never made any bad choices in life. Yes, lipsticks (and colors in general) have that effect on me. Girls who need to look presentable in corporate meetings would love this because it's so subtly pretty.
I like it so much I'm even putting up a photo of my face wearing it hah. |
