I wish I could go back to college.

03 July 2012

Life was so simple back then.
What would I give to go back
and live in a dorm with a meal plan again!

I woke up this morning with the heavy pitter-patter of rain on the roof. It definitely looked like it would rain all day so as expected, my Twitter feed was filled with students wondering if classes will be suspended and yuppies reminiscing all the times they wished for the suspension of classes.

It's a feeling I remember all too well. You see, I may be a big nerd who loved school and learning so much, but even I feel that one of the best moments in one's life as a student is the announcement of classes being suspended for the day because of the weather!

Now that I'm already working, I know I cannot depend on PAG-ASA and DepEd or CHED's late announcements anymore as we need to go to work even when it's raining lobsters and dinosaurs outside. If I want to survive corporate serfdom, I have to suck it in - a yuppie's gotta do what a yuppie's gotta do. Still, one can't help but wish.

When I was still a young, impressionable, idealistic college student at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila circa 2003 - 2007, I didn't like our school uniform that much because I felt like the pencil skirt and white blouse constricted my movements too much. I lived for Saturdays because we were allowed to be in civilian attire as long as we followed the dress code. I developed my own style of top-jeans-heels combo that time, and until now it's still a get-up I keep on coming back to whenever I get lazy to dress up for something.

Looking back, I wish I could go back to college and re-do some of my sartorial choices. If I could go back to college, this is definitely one outfit I would totally rock.

I wish I could go back to college.
In college you know who you are.
You sit in the quad and think, "Oh my God!
I am totally gonna go far!"

I mean, I would fit right in, right??

This is what I wore to STATUS Magazine's Tea Party I wrote about here. I think this is the first time I wore an outfit like this because I have this weird opinion that collars don't suit me that much hehe. But, whatever right? I'm 26 and there's no other time to be more experimental with my style. Aisa and Ana begged to differ though and told me they actually like this look on me than the girly, flirty dresses I am accustomed to. What do you think? Preppy Krissy, yay or nay? Let me know in the comments ;)

  2. I was thinking the same thing yesterday - but it's because I stayed in the library for more than half a day doing a report for graduate studies and I thought "a student's life is much easier" haha :))

That outfit is something I didn't expect (probably because it's not as girly as your recent outfits?) but the cropped pants + chunky heels combo is fab!

  3. Hey! I'm from PLM too, batch 2010. :) Anyway, fortunately on our last year, madaling mauto yung guards. They let us get away with dressing casually when we say "thesis" or "practicum". Lol. But I miss college too!
