When I was still in high school, I looked forward to the coming of a new month because I knew new issues of my favorites Candy and [the now defunct] Seventeen Philippines magazines will be released. Thankfully my mom indulged my addiction to teenage glossies, and until now I still have my old [plastic covered, even] copies sorted by month under my bed.
During those days, models graced the covers and editorials of my favorite 'zines. My favorites were Amanda Griffin, Kelly Misa, Karen Pamintuan, Nicole Hernandez, Maricar Reyes, Patty Laurel, and Maike Evers. Aside from being gorgeous and stunning ladies, they seemed to lead such perfect lives and I really looked up to them a lot. I honestly think magazine covers then were better than the crop of magazines now that just do a switcheroo of same faces, same famous celebrities.
During lazy days, I still take my old teen mags out from storage and wonder how my old fave models are now. I know some of them went on to become famous on other field like acting or hosting, while some still model for ramp, print or TVC. Some has moved on from glitz and glamour and became wives and/ or mothers.
But then I guess you can take the girl out of glitz and glamour, but you cannot take the glitz and glamour out of the girl.
One of my favorites, Amanda Griffin, is now happily married and a mother to a beautiful baby boy, but now she still has something up her sleeves.
She has a new show Amanda, Loving Life that will premiere on the LIFESTYLE NETWORK on July 8, 2012 at 7:30PM.
The host is former Channel [V] international VJ, “F” host, model turned super mom, AMANDA GRIFFIN-JACOB. This show is the very first of its kind on Philippine television: a high-end locally produced lifestyle show purely dedicated to today’s young urban mother. In this generation of accomplishment and instant gratification, the hyphenate is no longer the exception but the norm. Most women wear multiple hats aside from their most important one (motherhood). This show speaks to the growing need for today’s mother to be informed and aware that she can do it all and have it all too.
Nowadays, both motherhood and womanhood are equally fulltime jobs. Given today’s fast-paced lifestyle, everybody needs positivity. The show is all about finding one’s purpose and simple joys as it will touch also on various interesting topics of wellness and health, motherhood, fashion and lifestyle, and anything & everything that makes life more joyous, substantial and fulfilling.
Looking at how gorgeous Amanda still is and all the wonderful things she has accomplished and will still accomplish, who says you can't have it all? Even though I am not a mother yet, I am excited to watch this show. :)
Yep, you can have it all and I'm sure you will.
