Raffles Design Institute Manila holds open house

Prospective design students are invited to the open house of Raffles Design Institute, Manila (RDIM), slated on Saturday, March 10 and 17, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the RDIM campus, 18^th floor, Accralaw Tower, 2^nd Ave. cor 30^th St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. 

At the open house, RDIM will provide prospective students an introduction to the international design school school, consultations on programs and admissions, and a campus tour. 

RDIM offers two-year, full-time, advanced diploma courses in Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Management, Graphic Design, and Interior Design, and is currently open for enrollment for its April and July 2012 intakes. RDIM also offers an optional one-year, full-time top-up Bachelor of Design programme at their popular campuses like Singapore and Australia.

Thank You Global Pinoy Awards

Who is the modern day Filipino hero? 

He’s no Andres Bonifacio nor is he a Jose Rizal. But even without a sword, a gun or a pen, his sacrifice for the country is no less valiant. After all, he carries the aspirations of his family and the country’s economic security on his back.

Something we as their countrymen should all be proud of. With this reason, the Commission of Filipinos Overseas, Duty Free Philippines, and Kraft Asia pay tribute to the Global Pinoys that have showed excellence not only in their careers, but also in the initiatives to help their fellowmen in the country, through the Thank You Global Pinoy Awards. 

The Thank You Global Pinoy Awards is an initiative to search for the most outstanding global Filipino workers who deserve the gratitude not only of their loved ones; but also of the nation as a whole. It was primarily led by the Commission of Filipinos Overseas, the government agency tasked to promote and uphold the interests of Filipino emigrants and permanent residents abroad. “In its tradition of being the thank you and pasalubong chocolate from overseas Filipinos, Toblerone has initiated this project in order to give back, and give each and every Global Pinoy what they truly deserve—a sweet thank you,” shares Jaya Singh, Region Director, Middle East and Asia Pacific, Kraft Foods World Travel Retail. The online nominations ran from October 2011 to February 2012, and 10 outstanding overseas Filipino workers have been chosen and will be announced during the Awards Night on March 15, 2012.

Converse Asia Crown 2012

What better way to hold the country’s biggest Skate Summit than to let two of the world’s best pro skaterboarders to lead it? 

This is exactly what Converse Philippines has in store for the hundreds of skateboard enthusiasts who are set to compete for the Converse Asia Crown title on March 31 at the Trinoma Mindanao Open Parking in Quezon City. 

During the summit, US-based pro skaterboarders Kenny Anderson and Mike Anderson are set to show Filipino skaters how skateboarding is really done with their extremely polished skate tricks that seem effortless. Kenny Anderson, who returns better than ever as an alumni to the Converse Skate Team (having been on the original team in 1997), is considered “untouchable” on a skateboard for his consistent style and fluidity; while for Mike Anderson’s part, his skating is often described as “effortless,” because he is said to make his tricks look as if was very easy to do.   

Catering to the best skateboarders around the Metro, the Asia Crown aims to give Filipino skateboarders the chance to show off their dope moves on the board and compete with the best of the best skateboarders across the country. More than bragging rights, the local Asia Crown skateboarding champion will be hailed as the first official skateboarding ambassador of Converse Philippines—That means a year of Converse skateboarding goodies, P50,000 cold hard cash, and plane tickets to official Converse skateboarding events worldwide.

An open skate for all, free of charge, the skate summit will also be a day-long celebration of physical recreation, while fusing music and the arts, to reinforce Converse Philippines’ position as a key proponent of the global sport that is skateboarding,

Nestle Fitnesse Shape Up Night

Everyone's invited to attend the Nestle Fitnesse Shape Up Night to be held at the NBC Tent on March 31!  The party will start at 6PM and will be hosted by Iya Villania. It'll be a fun night of Zumba, glitter tattoos, and photobooths!
