To say my 2010 has been a rollercoaster ride would be an understatement. Maybe it's more apt to compare it to an airplane experiencing lots of turbulences, yet I - as the captain - still strive to continue with the journey. Cheesy yes, but it's almost the end of the year, a time of reminiscing and reflecting on the previous year, so I guess we're all allowed to be as cheesy as we like ;)
The following are my favorite - and some not favorite but memorable nonetheless - moments of the year that will say goodbye in a couple of hours:
JANUARY
HSBC-HDPP had its annual Holiday Party. The theme was Party Central. I actually bought my dress four months prior and only needed to buy the purse, shoes and other final touches. I wore a bandage dress from Naf-Naf, fishnet stockings, and black pumps.:)
I also began to have more confidence when it comes to projecting in front of the camera. I had my first amateur photoshoot with my friend Karlo for Project Barbie.
FEBRUARY
I wasn't able to watch Kris Allen's concert and got myself a camera instead. I still felt sad about it though, so I compensated by naming my new camera Lord Fontaine d'Allen.
The day before Valentine's was spent with Dane. This month TL Jimmy and I were also able to convince him to have a mohawk like Puck's of GLEE.
MARCH
I saw the first [of the many] film I have been anticipating, Alice in Wonderland. I loved the movie, and after seeing it made a mental note to myself never to lose my muchness.
Dane went with me and my family to Enchanted Kingdom for my cousin Jerico's birthday. He surprised me with these two wizard plushies as advanced birthday gifts :)
Met with my Seventeen Sigaw sisters Ate Cess and Belle for an afternoon filled with sweets, girl talk, and friendship ♥
Failed to watch Owl City's concert because I wasn't able to force convince anyone to go with me. Dane bought me their Deluxe Edition CD instead. Swooned because that was super sweet of him to do that.
Watched Jason Castro's mall tour with Ana and went home with a CD autographed by him. Thanks sis! ♥
One of the most memorable weekends of my year my life was the weekend we spent in Ilocos. When I feel sad I just read the post I made for that trip and feel better again because I am reminded life is beautiful if only you know where to look.
On our way back to Manila though, my heart got broken.
APRIL
I celebrated my 24th birthday and realized I am loved by many people. Special thanks to my dear blogfriends for making me feel special ♥ On my birthday I had a swimming party and Barbecue with my family.
Got myself new glasses :)
I spent my third year with HSBC.
I was still pretty sad the whole time so my weekends were spent socializing with friends as much as possible. I wrote this piece about heartbreak that will forever be relevant, IMO.
MAY
Got a bit tipsy because of orange juice laced with vodka for our team building ;D
Moved out of my apartment because I won't have a housemate anymore. My fishes Yin and Yang were adopted by Dane :(
Got robbed. My pretty plum bag from Tomato got snatched while I was in a jeepney commuting on my way to work. Taken with it were P8,000 in cash, my wallet with all my cards and IDs, my 8gb flash drive, two cellphones, and my digital camera. I also sustained deep wounds in my left elbow and waist when I fell from the PUJ. Bought a new phone the next day.
Bought a new camera to replace the one that was stolen. This time I named her Lady Johanna Mirabou.
JUNE
HSBC-HDPP had its annual Family Day with the theme Summer Dash 'n Splash. Spongecola had a concert as well.
Attended the premiere of Sex and the City 2 plus after-party.
Read Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love. I swear it changed my life.
My officemate and very close friend Terry's daughter Isabella Julia was born ♥
Frank treated us to a very enjoyable meal at my favorite Bigoli for his birthday :)
JULY
Our supervisor, TL Jimmy, transferred to another department so we had our last team building with him this month. TL Carlo became our new supervisor.
I got over my first stage of my mourning over my broken heart.
Saw Toy Story 3 and got obsessed with the Three Aliens from Pizza Planet ♥
Declared my love affair with journals and got a lovely present in the mail from my dear blogfriend Kym.
Had my first photoshoot with Mae and Watcher :)
Got my very first credit card. My first purchase is my domain. krissyfied.blogspot.com officially became krissyfied.com ♥
AUGUST
I bought a new phone, a Samsung B3410w. I named him Aristotle :)
Met up with my new blogfriend Mai after meeting her in the blogosphere for just a couple of days prior. She is proof that you don't need lots of years of knowing each other before you can call each other friends ♥ She taught me how to thirft-shop! :)
I applied for my own postpaid mobile phone line with Globe. My only complaint is being misinformed twice prior that I can keep my old number. Aside from that, I'm still very satisfied with their service.
I read The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins and was instantly captured, hook, line and sinker. That series is amazing! I even attended the third and final book Mockingjay's launch party :)
I met up with my Seventeen Sigaw sisters Kaiye, Grace and Belle and spent the whole day reminiscing our Sigaw days, laughing and bonding over food and girly stuff ♥
SEPTEMBER
I felt a bit sad because no one wanted to watch Despicable Me with me, and then I ended up watching it twice - one was with my friend Joner and the other was with Dane and Mich.
Attended Crystal Jade's Media Lunch with Mich, Ana and Dewi, thanks to Ed who invited us. Also managed to get Jessica Zafra's autograph :)
Spent an indulgent afternoon with Mich and Mae stuffing our faces full of delicious sugar rush-inducing desserts ♥
Attended GLEE's Season 2 Premiere at SM Mall of Asia with Ed and Dewi :)
OCTOBER
Finally got to meet my dear blogfriend Jessica in person! We attended Vanity, Vanity, Where Art Thou? thanks to an invite from Ana. Also got to meet Ava and Denise for the first time :)
I went to the Candy Fair with Mae. Teenager or not, I will forever be a Candy girl ♥
Had another photoshoot with Mae and Watcher, plus Frank. This shoot produced lots and lots of lovely photos! Photos from Frank can be found here, while those from Mae can be found here.
Finally got to watch the movie adaptation of Eat, Pray, Love with Ana. :)
Attended the Accessorize event with Ana and Ava, plus met a lot of other fashion bloggers ♥
The Great Singapore Trip happened on the last week of this month. I wrote lots of posts about this trip, see them here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here :)
NOVEMBER
Mich and I attended the Christmas Tree Lighting event sponsored by Coca-cola. This event kicked-off my personal countdown to Christmas :)
Dewi invited me to the premiere screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One and of course that is one offer I could never refuse. I saw it again with Mich and Dane, click here for my review.
My team had an overnight swimming party and since I had work the day after, I actually stayed up 38 hours without sleeping, and I succeeded!
Learned that I still couldn't have my hair permed so I just had everything chopped. I liked it, actually :)
Was finally able to convince my parents to let me live in an apartment by myself :) Also, I finally got to meet my long-time onlne friend Regine ♥
DECEMBER
I attended the launch of the new ambassadors of Real Leaf with my friends Mich and Jonas and was amazed at how clear and glowing Piolo's, KC's, Marian's and Dingdong's skin was!
Met up with my blog-sisters Ana and Ava with her son Athan for a mini Christmas pow-wow, then saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader with Pax and Ana ♥
Had a host of other Christmas parties and get-togethers with my friends from the office, from high school, as well as an Old School-themed Christmas soiree. December is always the best month for events like these :)
Attended the Facehunter event with my stylish fashion blogger-friends, then had dinner with my friends Ed, Dewi and Karlo.
Had a Year-ender activity with my good friends from college by watching a movie then discussing life and everything about it over coffee and pastries. ♥
This year I spent a lot of time [and money] going out with friends and spoiling myself with frozen yogurt, movies, books and shoes. But I am happy as can be. Thank you everyone for sharing your 2010 with me. :)
I've already quoted this line several times before, and since this is a year-ender post allow me to quote this again just because I really, really like it:
The great moments of your life won't necessarily be the things you do. They'll also be the things that happen to you. Now, I'm not saying you can't take action to affect the outcome of your life. You have to take action. And you will! But never forget, that on any day, you could step out the front door, and your whole life could change forever. You see the Universe has a plan kids; and that plan is always in motion. A butterfly flaps its wings, and it starts to rain. It's a scary thought, but it's also kind of wonderful. All these little parts of the machine constantly working... Making sure that you end up exactly where you're supposed to be.. exactly when you're supposed to be there. The right place. At the right time. - from the infinite wisdom of How I Met Your Mother
I hope we can all keep on sharing memories. I am looking forward to an awesomer 2011! Will love find me this year? ;)
As a year-ender activity my good friends from college and I wanted to go to Tagaytay again so we can make last year's out-of-town trip an annual ritual. However because of the lack of preparations we had to settle for a night-out instead. Anyway, when you're with friends, a movie and hanging-out just talking and laughing sound just as awesome.
Last night at Greenbelt, I realized just how blessed I really am. I am overwhelmed just thinking about how amazing the people I am surrounded with are, and how when you're with friends, the toughest hurdles seem much more manageable.
First we had dinner at Cafe Mediterranean. I invited Mich to this night-out so she'll be introduced to my awesome college friends. |
Ed holding a full-page ad of their client Real Leaf. (Read about how I met the four Real Leaf ambassadors here.) |
After eating (very fast because the movie was about to start soon), we went straight to Cinema 4 to watch Rosario. Read my blog-sister Melai's reviews of the movie here and here. :)
Paula, also our classmate and one of Dewi's best girl friends in college, saw us after the movie. It was the first time I saw her again after we graduated almost four years ago!
Love these two :) |
Love this photo :) |
From there we went to McDonald's (where we also hung out after watching The Lovely Bones early this year) and bought lattes and pastries from the McCafé.
Dewi's brazo de mercedez and my rocky road bar |
Paula has always loved making accessories ever since we were in college. She made the necklace - which I covet - she wore last night. |
From left to right: Ed, Paula, JV, Pawlo, Karlo, Dewi, me Love these guys ♥ |
What I wore last night I loved how the animal print headband I got from Anagon the night before gave my outfit a quirky touch :) |
It has a long been accepted cliché that time passes fast when you're having fun. I laughed so much last night 'til my sides and my jaws hurt, shaking away all the tiredness I have been feeling due to lack of sleep for the last couple of days. We also talked about the possibility of maybe going abroad to work in the future. Hmm, I wonder where next year's year-ender activity will be held? I got home at around 5am; still early by their standards as they still stayed behind even after Mich and I left.
I thank God for the gifts of laughter and friends. Memories from last night will forever be stored in my pink, glittering heart ♥
Last Wednesday I attended Yvan Rodic's book signing event at Fully Booked in The Fort with my good friend and classmate from college Dewi. Aside from seeing stylish people and fabulous outfits, the event also gave me a chance to see my blog-sisters again and meet new people!
He gamely answered questions from the audience after his short talk |
I especially liked it when he said style is something that comes from within. It doesn't matter what labels you're wearing or whether you're sporting the latest trends or not, so long as you are comfortable in your skin and you own whatever you're wearing, then you can be stylish. Style is in the attitude. And oh wow, what an explosion of style that night's event was!
